Best use case
Laptop microphone setup is a middle ground. It is better than a phone at the back of the room, but still not as clean as a direct feed from the sound desk.
Positioning
- Place the laptop near the front if possible.
- Avoid projector fans, air conditioning, and reflective walls.
- Keep the microphone path focused on speech, not the room.
- If the admin needs to sit at the AV desk, use a USB microphone closer to the speaker.
Browser permissions
- When the browser asks for microphone permission, allow it.
- Open Audio settings in Voco and select the correct input before pressing Start.
- Voco's input selector changes what Voco listens to for the service. It does not change Chrome's default microphone setting.
- Use Test input to confirm the selected device is receiving signal. The test result should name the actual microphone or interface Chrome gave to Voco.
- If the wrong input is selected, stop the stream, choose the right input, and start again.
