Boosted words and profanity safety

Improve names and biblical terms while keeping profanity filtering always on.

Boosted words

Boosted words help speech-to-text recognise names and terms that are common in church but uncommon in normal dictation. Add preacher names, church names, local place names, biblical terms, sermon series titles, and repeated ministry names.

Examples

  • Pastor surnames and guest speaker names.
  • Church name, local community names, and campus names.
  • Books of the Bible and theological terms used often in the church.
  • Children's ministry, youth group, and outreach names.

Profanity safety

Voco's profanity filter is always on and is not exposed as a church-facing switch. It runs before translation and again before translated text is broadcast. The goal is to prevent common profanities and obvious mishears from reaching attendee or admin-facing text.

False positives

Audio still matters

No text filter can fix every bad transcript. If an innocent word is repeatedly misheard, add the expected term to boosted words and improve the audio feed.
