冇一個簡單又精確嘅數字，因為人會因應自己嘅定義而分別計算完整聖經、新約、段落、修訂、意譯同埋語言版本。單喺英文方面，就有成百種聖經版本同修訂；至於完整英文聖經大約有 100 本，視乎你點樣界定一種「獨立翻譯」。
全球，現時 Wycliffe UK 嘅統計資料顯示：有超過 800 種語言擁有完整聖經；超過 1,800 種擁有新約；同埋超過 1,500 種擁有經文片段。呢個運動年年都會有變化，所以應該將呢啲數字當作現時嘅快照，而唔係永久總數。

逐字逐句（word-for-word）同意譯（thought-for-thought）點樣分別
逐字逐句翻譯會盡量保留原語言嘅形式同結構（只要英文讀得出嚟嘅程度）。呢類翻譯好適合學習、重複字詞、同埋深入教導，但可能聽落冇咁自然。
意譯翻譯（thought-for-thought）嘅目標係將意思帶入自然嘅英文。佢哋可能更容易理解（例如公開朗讀或小組分享），但會喺理解上俾讀者更多詮釋選擇。
點樣揀聖經翻譯
做講道準備時，可以比較一個較正式嘅翻譯同一個平衡或動態（dynamic）嘅翻譯。做公開朗讀時，揀一個你會眾聽得明嘅翻譯——當以朗讀方式聽嘅時候。至於兒童、英語學習者，或新讀者，易讀性（readability）比起「聽落傳統」更重要。
最好的聖經翻譯通常唔係一部聖經行到每個時刻。好多教會會備有一部主要用作講道嘅聖經，然後再建議更易嘅翻譯畀首次閱讀者同兒童。
